Doug has a tremendous passion for U.S. Awards and for being a key partner in supplying awards to high schools nationwide. He has fond childhood memories of sitting under the folding table playing in the felt and yarn that fell from his mom and dad’s scissors as they trimmed letters late into the night. Doug started his career as a Certified Public Accountant with Grant Thornton, and then rose to become a Vice President of Finance for Kennedy Van Saun in Danville, Pennsylvania. Doug’s call to be an entrepreneur and to return home to the family business brought him back to Pittsburg, Kansas and U.S. Awards. Over the last 25 years Doug has transformed the company from a ‘manual only shop’ to one of the most technically advanced chenille manufacturers in the country. Doug and his wife Julie have raised 3 young men. He is very active in his church, youth activities, and in supporting several community programs.
